How big is Ukraine?
For this comparison, Ukraine measures 1,315 km in width (817.1 mi). Approximate width on a locally centred equal-area map, rounded to 1 km. Land polygons included in the Natural Earth 1:50m country outline.
Map span is a linear dimension, not land area or a travel distance. Locally centred equal-area projection avoids the polar area exaggeration of a Mercator world map.
Put the measurement in perspective
The recorded width is 1.177 times the width of France (metropolitan) (1,117 km). This is a ratio of the labelled linear dimensions. It does not describe weight, area or volume.
Use the interactive comparison to see both drawings on one shared scale. You can choose another reference or enter your own height. If the sizes are very far apart, the smaller object may be almost invisible; an intermediate reference makes the progression easier to inspect.

The note above explains the specific value selected. Drawings are schematic; the stated measurement determines the scale. Report a measurement issue.
Check the convention
Country outlines use Natural Earth map data with a locally centred equal-area projection. The stated map span is approximate and depends on that projection. It is not surface area, perimeter or a geodesic distance. Offshore territory exclusions appear in the measurement note.
